Mariette says:

"Due to our fast-paced lifestyle, we seldom take a moment to reflect on the relationships we cherish, or to share our love, gratitude, wisdom, beliefs, sincere wishes or treasured memories with loved ones.

"This gave me the idea to record “Gift podcasts,” interviewing individuals in a safe space and guiding them to share their thoughts on topics such as:

• love, appreciation, unforgettable memories or dreams for the future, to create a private recording for a life partner

• childhood memories to share with siblings, friends, grandchildren or godchildren

• a recording in which you talk about someone who has already passed away, so that others will keep this person in remembrance

• the life challenges you’ve overcome, as an inspiration for others

• a turning point in your life that you want to share with others

• precious travel memories

• your view of parenting, growing older, or other challenges and opportunities life brings us

• A look at your legacy, which could range from life lessons you’ve learned … tips for cooking, baking, woodworking … your business acumen … to how to nurture or support loved ones

• the possibilities are endless.

"This recording can be a birthday, anniversary or Christmas present, a hello across continents, or your legacy to the next generation … and can be listened to again and again."

Quick facts concerning a Gift podcast:

"To make it easy, I manage the process from start to finish,” says Mariette:

• After a free, no-obligation Whatsapp or Zoom meeting, during which we get a feel for each other and outline the topic, I draw up a framework with questions.

• If you’re happy with the questions, we set a date and record the interview by means of a Whatsapp call: audio, not video. Usually, there are some slip-ups on both sides of the line (and a lot of laughter), which is why each conversation is edited to eliminate any cringe-worthy moments.

• I edit, mix and master the recording with care and send it to you as an MP3 that you can easily share with others.

• The gift podcast is yours to share as you see fit. I do not publish it on any of my platforms.”

"Remember, the power of a Gift podcast lies in the fact that each individual’s approach, expression, sense of humour and what they have to say is unique. When a loved one is far away, it’s their voice … their being … that we long for.
